Rackspace Cloud Files UK supported?

Apologies if this is a duplicate support ticket.

I’m getting ‘Transloadit was unable to get an auth token from cloudfiles using the given credentials.’

..using template https://transloadit.com/templates/view/REDACTED

Can you confirm Transloadit.com works with UK-based Rackspace Cloud Files accounts?

They use different auth servers, see here http://blog.chmouel.com/2011/01/04/how-to-use-the-rackspace-cloud-uk-api/

With thanks,

We currently don’t support UK based cloud files accounts : /. But we could try to add support if your use case requires it.

Thanks for the reply(s!) Felix. Was banging my head against a few walls over the weekend as you can see. Very happy with Transloadit, great to help me rapidly prototype my service.

In conclusion:

  1. I’ve decided to offer users the option of either ‘fit’ or ‘fill’ images. This means twice the work and twice the money for Transloadit, but is the right thing to do and resolves trying to make an automated one-strategy-fits-all.
  2. Because you store ‘temporary’ files for 30 days, I might not need to store files myself at all. So long as I can a) trust you guys to keep those images online reliably b) not change the ‘30 days’ without a lot of notice. Is that the case?

Finally, in regard to 1) - I currently make a ‘web’ and a ‘print’ resolution version of each user upload - at the same time in one template. The ‘print’ one is the costly one yet the one that will get used least - only if they purchase. I’m wondering if there’s a way to have a first process that makes my ‘web’ version and only make the ‘print’ version later, separately, but without asking for a re-upload.

What do you think?

If your bill gets too high, let me know. We can always give you a discount.

You can trust in the temporary files to work as described for now. We have no plans to change the 30 days period at this point, but if we do we would not go lower than 14 days.

However, this is really not meant as a way of providing hosting, so if you plan to access these files more than ~10 times, we would really prefer that you are looking for another solution as we have to pay the bandwidth for this.

Yes, that’s doable. You’ll have to use one of our server side SDKs and the /http/import robot to trigger assemblies on demand.
