signatures and utf-8 using ruby on rails

Hi again!

I’m currently dealing with verifying the signature of the POST requests to our notify_url. here’s the issue: rails’ form helper includes the field `utf8` with the value `✓` into the upload form.

Without this field our signature matches transloadit’s signature. If this field is included however, signatures won’t match anymore.

Here’s the ruby code used:

digest = OpenSSL::Digest::Digest.new(‘sha1’)
signature = OpenSSL::HMAC.hexdigest(digest, secret, params[:transloadit])

is there any special encoding I need to use?

Cheers,
Daniel

Hey Daniel,
