Are file conversions supported? For example a user uploads a PNG file and a JPEG file is generated and stored in my S3 bucket.

Yes, this is supported using the format parameter. Available formats are: “jpg”, “png”, “gif”, “tiff” (from http://transloadit.com/docs/image-resize).
