# Does creating thumbnails for PDF files work?

older entries here suggest that it was possible to create thumbnails for pdf files.  
At the moment i am not able to generate a thumbnail for a pdf at all (tried several demos, several assemblies with several different files).

Can you please make clear what is the current state of support for creating thumbnails from pdf files and when you are planning to add this feature?

Hi Reiner,

we disabled the feature because we had an unacceptable high rate of pdf’s that would not convert properly. We really want to bring this feature back, but right now we are somewhat occupied with making architectural improvements to account for our rapid growth. So I’d say bringing back this feature is probably still 4-6 weeks off.

Once it’s back, we will announce it on our blog.
